Wine & Cheese Tasting at Provisions

When: 5pm – 8pm, Fri, Jan 27, 2012

Join us for an evening of wine tasting and food pairings at our new Provisions Pantry! We’ll be pairing a selection of delightful French regional wines with palate pleasing cheeses and delicious foods from our fresh take n’ bake selections.

We’ll be sampling the following:

Wines:

  • Domaine Noiraie Bourgueil Cuvee St Vincent – a single vinyard Cabernet Franc from France’s Loire Valley
  • Chateau lafleur Haute-Serre Malbec – from the Cahor region in France
  • Oberon Sauvignon Blanc (2007) – from the Napa Valley
  • Eyrie Vineyards Pinot Gris (2009) – from the Willamette Valley

Cheeses:

  • Abondance – Complex alpine cheese similar to a French Gruyere (cow’s milk)
  • Brebirousse – Ewe’s milk cheese from the Lyon region of Franche … lovely, creamy, delicate
  • Garroxta – Semi soft Spanish goat … hint of nuttiness with a clean finish
  • 12 Month Manchengo – Spanish sheep aged for 12 months … sharp, hearty character with a lingering buttery finish.
  • Pecorino di Tartufo – Black truffles with a well aged Italian Pecorino … decadent

Foods (from our fresh take & bake selections):

  • Baked Shrimp – Tender shrimp baked in our spicy harissa butter with notes of citrus and fresh herbs.
  • Traditional Baked Escargot – Imported escargot are baked in our white wine and fresh herb butter.
  • Pate de Fois Gras en Croute – Smooth fois gras pate with sauternes and house fig compote encased in buttery puff pastry.
  • Pate de Campagne en Croute – Country style pate with cracked black pepper and house pickled red onions encased in buttery puff pastry.
